Haitian Migrants Apprehended in the Central Bahamas

A total of ninety-five (95) Haitian migrants are currently being detained at the Carmichael Road Detention Center after they were apprehended in the Central Bahamas over the past weekend.

NEMA sets Christmas deadline for Inagua repairs

Commander Stephen Russell, director of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has set a Christmas deadline to complete repairs to homes in Inagua damage by Hurricane Ike. According to an assessment conducted by Social Services, about 201 homes received major damages; 42 minor damages; two homes extensively damaged; four destroyed; and 10 homes left unscathed.

Public Works to Conduct Inagua Damage Assessment

Public Works and Transport Minister Neko C. Grant announced Wednesday that a team of officers from the Ministry will travel to Inagua Friday to undertake detailed assessments of various government buildings and properties damaged as a result of Hurricane Ike.
